The Senior Vehicle Technician is responsible for executing a comprehensive range of technical, diagnostic, and analytical maintenance, repair, and service tasks as a certified Master Technician on Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV), including buses, vans, and automobiles. This role demands adherence to manufacturer technical guidelines and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Trend Analysis: Conduct assessments on parts usage, replacement frequency, and component failures.
2. Maintenance Scheduling: Oversee preventative and routine maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and coordinate off-site emergency repairs.
3. Reporting: Provide updates to the Facility Maintenance Manager as required.
4. Training: Assist in mentoring junior mechanics in repair techniques.
5. Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A combination of experience and/or certifications will be considered.
- Current ASE A Series Master Certification.
- Current ASE T Series Master Certification.
- Current ASE H Series Master Certification.
- Valid B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements.
- Qualified to conduct annual inspections on CMVs.
- Qualified to perform brake inspections on CMVs.
- EPA MVAC 609 Certification.
- Proficient in fleet maintenance management software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- At least fifteen years of experience supporting skilled tradespeople in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment, buses, vans, and automobiles.
- Familiarity with brake service and inspection methods, tools, and equipment.
- Must possess personal tools.
Language Skills:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with fellow mechanics regarding repair needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of climbing, crawling, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching in confined spaces.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and adapt to varying temperature conditions, including extreme heat.
