Job Summary:

The Activity Aide will assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs for our residents. This role requires a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning and Implementation: Assist in planning, developing, and organizing activity programs and quality assurance programs for the Activities Department.
  • Resident Engagement: Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement in activities, and report and chart resident behavior.
  • Team Collaboration: Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Environment and Safety: Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout the facility, and ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Supply Management: Recommend equipment and supply needs to supervisors and assist in purchasing department supplies.
  • Confidentiality and Respect: Maintain the confidentiality of resident care information and treat residents with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Assist in cleaning up activity areas, purchase department supplies, and oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, and be willing to handle residents based on their individual needs.
  • Education and Certifications: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Physical Demands:

  • Mobility: Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Cognitive and Emotional Demands: Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
  • Physical Strength: Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet.
