Job Description Summary
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry. We seek a candidate with expertise in organic chemistry who can develop a vigorous, externally funded research program and contribute to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be expected to cultivate a strong research program, mentor students, and engage in departmental service.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain a research program in organic chemistry, securing external funding and publishing research in reputable journals.
2. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in organic chemistry, developing and implementing curriculum to meet departmental needs.
3. Mentor students in research projects, providing guidance and support to ensure their academic success.
4. Participate in departmental service, contributing to committee work, and engaging in professional development activities.
Requirements
A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field, and at least one year of postdoctoral experience are required. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are essential. The candidate must be eligible to work in the United States at the time of employment and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
