We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Carolina Dunes Behavioral Health. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our treatment center.
Key Responsibilities- Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patients, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Assess patient status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information.
- Ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plans are completed upon admission.
- Accurately administer medications per ordered note and document accurate counts of controlled substances.
- Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status, such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, or changes in medical status regarding response to medications.
- Supervise self-administration of medications using safety initiatives and document effects of scheduled and PRN medications.
- Maintain accountability of administration, recording, control, and security of medications, including narcotics.
- Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.
- Confer regularly with the treatment team regarding patient care and participate in unit activities, such as therapy groups, family meetings, and staffing.
- Provide education and explanation to patients, families, and coworkers regarding medication usage, common side effects, patient rights, and other topics necessary for optimal patient care.
- Monitor patient acuity, census, and staffing needs, and make arrangements for coverage as needed, following established guidelines.
- Assure thorough, accurate documentation is completed for all patients on each shift and patient assignment sheets are completed daily.
- Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
- One or more years of nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility, preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment, preferred.
