Job Summary

Catholic Charities Fort Worth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Instructor Assistant - Refugee Education. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting refugee students in achieving their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in teaching English, Literacy, and basic classroom skills to refugee students.
  • Help create teaching materials and support the team in various administrative tasks.
  • Assist in the initial intake visit with new clients and support the team in contacting clients.
  • Meet with tutors on a weekly basis to plan lessons and travel between the office and tutoring site.
  • Assist in teaching small or large groups of students, follow lesson plans, and take attendance.
  • Contact clients in person and over the phone with an interpreter and enter funder required documentation into the database.
  • Maintain professional relationships with school staff and volunteers and arrive on time.
  • Communicate concerns about students to the team in a timely manner and engage refugee families in a culturally sensitive manner.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Currently enrolled in a college program.
  • Openness to learning about new cultures.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and liability insurance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A belief that ending poverty is possible.
