The Marion County Indiana Sheriff's Office is seeking a skilled Jail Security Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our jail operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor closed-circuit television camera screens for evidence of security breaches.
  • Ensure doors are properly secured and locked.
  • Control security of and access through electronic doors.
  • Provide information to inmates on various subjects.
  • Observe and communicate with inmates who claim to be ill and summon assistance as needed.
  • Interact with other employees and visitors to exchange information about inmates and/or answer questions regarding jail procedures.
  • Enter information on location cards for each inmate and maintain logs on inmate activity.
  • Write narrative reports on jail incidents as needed.
  • Perform computer updates and status inquiries.
  • Perform other duties related to jail security that do not require physical contact with inmates.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or HSE.
  • Must have no record of a felony conviction.
  • Must be willing to submit to fingerprinting, drug screening, psychological examination, character investigation, and physical examination.
  • Must be in sound mental and physical health.
