As a Road Driver with FedEx Freight, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer combination to transport freight between Service Centers and/or turn-point locations. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and triples, to transport freight between Service Centers and/or turn-point locations.
Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
Verify and complete required documentation and reports, including hours of service and fuel logs.
Maintain accurate daily logs and comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
Communicate with dispatch and other team members to ensure smooth operations and address any issues that may arise.
Requirements:
Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements.
Must have at least one year of experience within the last three years or successful completion of the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations.
Working Conditions:
Drive long distances day and night on all types of roads and in all types of weather.
Exposure to noise and vibration, dust and diesel fumes, and hazardous materials shipped and packaged under DOT regulations.
Hours may vary due to operational need, and overnight stays may be required for some schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, and climb in and out of the truck.
Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
Ability to work independently and/or as a team member, demonstrating initiative and motivation.
