We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at TransForce. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine and non-routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles, adhering to our company standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles, including tire maintenance, fulfilling service calls for repair, and conducting visual inspections of vehicles.
- Handle more advanced issues and problems, and refer complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles, including parts and supplies used.
- Assist with preventative maintenance, safety maintenance inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
- Diagnose and perform accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair.
- Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
- Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval where required.
- Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred).
- Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required (or expected within 3 months of hire).
- State inspection license (if required).
- ASE Certification preferred. Must participate in ASE testing program within 1 year (expected to have 3 ASE within 12 months of hire).
- Intermediate mechanical aptitude and 3 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.
- Maintenance Shop environment with dust, dirt, and grease conditions.
- Ability to work under all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a crouched position or on back, lying on mechanic's creeper, beneath motor vehicle equipment.
