Position Overview

We are currently looking for dedicated Full-time Culinary Specialists to enrich the dining experience for our clientele. Join our dynamic team in a rewarding environment.

Compensation: $17.00-$18.00/hr

Work Schedule: 32 hours/week, with shifts including Sunday 9am-5:30pm, Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am-5:30pm & 8am-4:30pm

Role Summary:

The Culinary Specialist is responsible for crafting nutritious and appealing meals for residents, adhering to established recipes and complying with federal, state, and local standards for food safety and preparation. This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals according to planned menus.
  • Serve food while adhering to established portion control guidelines.
  • Follow standardized recipes and accommodate special requests.
  • Ensure food is cooked at appropriate temperatures and maintain necessary checklists and logs.
  • Assist with inventory management and receive deliveries from suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Director to coordinate menus and special requests.
  • Adjust work schedule as needed to respond to emergencies.
  • Implement safe food handling practices and follow established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in daily or scheduled cleaning tasks as per established guidelines.
  • Adhere to dietary requirements and modifications as necessary.

Qualifications

Core Competencies:

Work Environment:
  • This position involves repetitive wrist movements and requires lifting up to seventy-five pounds (75 lbs).
Physical Requirements:
  • Continuous standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry, and manipulate various food items and equipment.
  • Visual acuity for assessing cooked and stored food quality.
  • Ability to work with cleaning agents and chemicals safely.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and humidity levels in food storage and preparation areas.
  • Must be capable of lifting and/or carrying between fifty (50 lbs) and seventy-five (75 lbs).
Position Type and Work Hours:

This is an hourly position, with expected hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and service.
  • ServSafe certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
  • Demonstrated integrity and reliability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate in work.
  • Able to multitask effectively in a high-pressure environment while being a team player.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Effective communication skills to interact with staff, residents, families, and the public.
  • Numerical skills for maintaining work records and preparing recipes.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination for food preparation and equipment operation.
  • Willingness to perform routine tasks with frequent interruptions and a strong appreciation for food quality and safety.
  • Ability to read and follow recipe instructions and dietary orders accurately.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, especially during emergencies, with patience and understanding towards all stakeholders.
