About the Position

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Navigator to join our team. As a Peer Navigator, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals with opioid use disorder who are recently released from incarceration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Connect participants with resources for health insurance, medical care, and behavioral health services.
  • Coordinate with the ECOP Bridge Team to facilitate rapid connection to Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) and intake with local community providers.
  • Build relationships with local agencies and advocate for participants to access healthy behaviors and social networks.
  • Collaborate with partner peers to provide continued recovery support and coordination.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification in Virginia.
  • Prior experience in a peer recovery role with a proven track record of leadership or mentorship.
  • Stable recovery from a substance use disorder with at least two years of sobriety.
  • Commitment to promoting recovery, breaking stigmas, and uplifting the community.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking.
  • Prior experience with the carceral and legal systems.
  • Collaboration with integrated teams in behavioral health, medical, or justice system partners.
