Job Summary

The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of the College's bi-weekly and monthly payrolls. This position will manage the student payroll function, including monitoring Federal Work Study awards and tracking hours worked. The Payroll Specialist will also work with Human Resources to coordinate setup of all new hires and benefit changes, and will act as the back-up to the Payroll Manager upon their absence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the student payroll function, including monitoring Federal Work Study awards and tracking hours worked.
  • Work with Human Resources to coordinate setup of all new hires and benefit changes.
  • Act as the back-up to the Payroll Manager upon their absence.
  • Responsible for data entry of College-wide master control data, including employee information for students, staff, and faculty new hires and changes.
  • Assist with monthly faculty, bi-weekly staff, and student payroll processing.
  • Validate hours and earnings from Academic Affairs and ADP's Time and Attendance.
  • Work with Accounting on the bi-weekly and monthly payroll uploads to the College's finance system.
  • Responsible for the management of sensitive information by ensuring accurate filing and disposal.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Finance, Business, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a similar role.
  • Prior experience with payroll systems, working knowledge of all federal and state taxes and regulations, in particular student employment.
  • General understanding of the Disbursements process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, ADP WorforceNow and ADP Time and Attendance preferred.
