Mammography Imaging Specialist

As a Mammography Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Diagnostic Imaging team. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate technologist to join our team in Wailuku, Hawaii.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform mammography examinations with physician supervision, ensuring accurate and efficient results.
- Monitor and maintain quality control of all mammographic studies, adhering to national patient safety goals and guidelines.
- Complete patient history and breast assessment forms, transmitting them into the Radiology PACS system.
- Position patients, apply compression, and provide immobilization means as required, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Review orders with peers and consult with attending radiologists as needed, maintaining daily records of exams performed.
- Support the Mobile Health Vehicle as needed, preparing sterile fields and ensuring sterility of surgical packs and disposables.
- Assist radiologists during exams and procedures, capturing specific mammography images and assisting with biopsy specimen collection.
- Operate and understand all features and performance capabilities of mammography systems, performing system quality control as required.
- Post-process and perform quality control of mammography images, preparing them for radiologist interpretation and transmission to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
- Maintain working knowledge of all department equipment and devices, reporting equipment malfunctions appropriately.
- Assume responsibilities for patient care during procedures, providing fear-reducing service-oriented communication and a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere.
- Provide instructions on safety measures to patients, family members, and hospital staff, ensuring appropriate safety precautions are followed.
- Apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure, capturing and recording radiation dose delivered during procedures.
- Minimum one year of general radiology experience as a registered technologist, including experience or successful completion of a training program in mammography.
- Minimum one year of mammography experience.
- Associates degree in radiologic technology or two years of directly related experience.
- Radiographer License (Hawaii), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist, and Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
