Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Surgical Technologist PRN to join our team at Reston Hospital Center. As a key member of our operating room team, you will provide technical support to patients of all populations, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the circulating nurse in setting up the room, ensuring the presence and proper functioning of all necessary equipment and instruments.
  • Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts, readies sutures, and passes all instruments, equipment, sponges, medications, etc. to surgeons and assistants as needed.
  • Pass specimen from surgeon to circulating nurse, responsible for specimen while on field.
  • Perform related duties, including but not limited to: assist in cleaning and stocking, picking cases for next day, housekeeping duties, and attending staff meetings.
  • Work as a collaborative member of the OR team, demonstrating ability to adjust to different situations at any given time, anticipate needs of surgical team on field, and take direction from circulating nurse.
Requirements
  • Completion of Surgical Technician Course or equivalent required. If hired after August 2019, must hold a current CST or be eligible to sit for the exam and acquire the certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensed Surgical Technologist from the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
  • BLS required.
  • Two years OR scrubbing experience preferred.
