Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled outpatient orthopedic physical therapist to deliver orthopedic physical therapy services to a diverse clientele ranging from adolescents to adults as part of the Fairview Health Services Flexible Workforce (FWF) team. The FWF team is responsible for providing staffing support across various outpatient orthopedic therapy clinics in the metropolitan area. Ideal candidates will possess training in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). For those with limited MDT experience, Fairview Health Services offers mentorship and development opportunities to foster professional growth.
- FTE 1.0, authorized to work 80 hours per pay period.

Fairview Health Services Rehabilitation provides a wide array of services to patients across multiple acute-care hospitals, post-acute settings, and outpatient therapy clinics for both adults and children. Our offerings include Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Our therapists work collaboratively with colleagues across all medical environments and participate in numerous specialty programs.
As an academic health system featuring residency and fellowship programs, along with a rehab-focused clinical quality team, we cultivate a collaborative culture centered on learning, emphasizing evidence-based, patient-centered care. Our continuing education program provides over 40 courses annually at no cost to employees and supports various external continuing education opportunities each year.
As a member of the Fairview Health Services rehabilitation team, you will have access to formal mentorship, clinical specialization, and opportunities for recognition and compensation through our clinical specialist program. As a leader in rehabilitative care with nationally recognized programs, our therapists play a vital role in assisting patients in achieving their goals and enhancing their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
The Physical Therapist collaborates with patients and their families to conduct evaluations and re-evaluations. This includes gathering and applying relevant data, performing examinations, and establishing treatment diagnoses.
Develops Individualized Care Plans
Analyzes data to identify patient needs and potential risks, determines recovery prognosis, and sets personalized goals.
Implements and adjusts care plans based on ongoing assessments and patient responses.
Coordinates care and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team regarding all aspects of care, including establishing appropriate discharge plans.
Provides Skilled Interventions
Modifies treatment approaches to reflect changes in patient status and responses to therapy.
Evaluates patient and/or caregiver educational needs and delivers relevant instruction.
Documentation and Billing
Utilizes appropriate medical terminology and adheres to professional practice standards.
Ensures timely completion of documentation in accordance with departmental standards.
Maintains compliance with departmental billing practices.
Professional Expectations
Effectively prioritizes tasks and patient care for optimal time management.
Understands and complies with professional licensure and certification requirements.
Mentors team members and supervises students as assigned.
Engages in professional development to uphold clinical standards.
Quality Improvement Initiatives
Contributes to crafting and implementing enhancements and participates in entity/system initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
Active Physical Therapy registration/licensure in the state of Minnesota or a temporary license in MN.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred
Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in Physical Therapy practice.
