Specialty Pharmacist

Job Title: PRN Specialty Pharmacist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Pharmacist to join our team at Paragon Healthcare, a proud member of the Elevance Health family of companies. As a Specialty Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing life-saving and life-giving infusible and injectable drug therapies to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

* Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security, and inventory of controlled substances, and disposal of drugs designated as hazardous waste.
* Ensure compliance with laws governing the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs.
* Engage in consultation with prescriber regarding providing pharmaceutical care.
* Answer questions and provide information to patients on drug interaction, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
* Ensure that stock and supplies necessary for customer care are ordered, stored, and handled in an organized and efficient manner.
* Lead the activities of pharmacy technicians and delivery/equipment technicians.
* Dispense, and compound drug.
* Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, and ensures quality, security, and proper disposal.
* Assist the patient delivery representative in orders, receiving, maintaining and tracking all infusion related equipment.

Requirements:

* Requires BA/BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D and minimum of 1 year experience working as a Pharmacist in clinic and/or alternate site/home health pharmacy service; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
* Requires current active unrestricted license to practice pharmacy as Registered Pharmacist (RPh).
* Multi-state licensure is required if this individual is providing services in multiple states.
* For Paragon and Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.

Preferred Skills:

* IV certification preferred
* Sterile IV compounding experience preferred

Work Environment:

* This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively.
* The successful candidate will be required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week.
