Position Overview
As a vital member of the campus community, the Campus Police Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all individuals on campus. This role involves regular patrols of campus facilities and grounds to deter theft, vandalism, and other violations of institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities
1. Generate incident reports routinely and provide testimony in legal and administrative proceedings as required.
2. Conduct building inspections, managing access to facilities according to established schedules and requests.
3. Enforce campus parking regulations, manage traffic flow, and investigate vehicular incidents.
4. Provide security support during campus events and functions as assigned.
5. Respond to various alarms, including fire and intrusion alerts, and participate in safety drills and equipment inspections.
6. Collaborate with investigative personnel on crime-related matters as directed.
7. Assist in training new officers in departmental procedures.
8. Be prepared to work overtime and respond to emergencies as necessary, as this role is considered essential.
9. Attend required training sessions and in-service programs to maintain professional standards.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance campus safety and protect the community.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess at least an associate degree in criminal justice or a related discipline, along with one to three years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience. Successful completion of a police recruit training program equivalent to MPTC standards is mandatory. Candidates must also pass psychological and physical evaluations.

Preferred Attributes
- Experience in a law enforcement role within a college or university setting is advantageous.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including holidays, is required.

- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with the campus community.
- Ability to manage confrontational situations professionally and without bias.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to interpret and present information clearly.

Physical Requirements
Officers must be capable of performing essential duties, which may include standing, walking, and responding to emergencies in various weather conditions. Candidates will undergo a pre-employment physical and agility assessment, as well as a background check.

Work Environment
Officers may encounter diverse weather conditions and varying noise levels while performing their duties. Exposure to hazardous materials and situations requiring medical assistance may occur.

Licenses and Certifications
- Candidates must meet the standards set forth by MGL 22C Section 63 and Title 515 of the Code of Massachusetts Regulations for Special State Police Officers.
- Completion of an accredited police academy is required for immediate police powers.
- A valid driver's license and certifications in CPR and First Responder are necessary.
