About the Position:
This role is for an Underground and Earthworks Estimator within a reputable contracting firm specializing in heavy civil and industrial construction. The company has a strong track record of over 31 years, primarily serving government entities through competitive bidding processes.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Estimator, your primary duty will be to prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including:
  • Conducting quantity takeoffs and preparing estimates in the required pricing format.
  • Researching historical and regional pricing to inform estimates.
  • Creating summary estimates and managing control worksheets.
  • Reviewing and interpreting project plans, specifications, and relevant documentation.
  • Collaborating with Senior Estimators to assess and manage project risks.
  • Working closely with project managers, engineers, and team members to ensure the accuracy of estimates.
  • Researching and engaging with regional suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and promoting operational efficiencies.
  • Maintaining organized records of all estimates and communications.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of bid proposals as required.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in construction estimating is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience with Heavy/Highway projects is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented work approach.
