Job Summary

The Senior Product Development Formulation Specialist is responsible for developing new products, improving existing ones, addressing manufacturing issues, evaluating new and alternative raw materials, and seeking cost savings. This role will focus on formulating nutrient premix based on customer requests, ensuring regulatory compliance, and complying with customer applications, shelf life, process, and stability.


Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and manufacture lab samples of custom dietary supplement blends.
  • Interpret customer requests into prototypes, such as great-tasting powdered beverages or tablets designed with various properties.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams, Manufacturing, supply chain, etc. on scale-up and transfer of developed formulations to the plant.
  • Provide customers with technical support on dietary supplement formulations.
  • Maintain proper documentation of product development process and results and keep equipment logbooks in accordance with R&D guidelines.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, food science/technology, or similar.
  • 1-2 years prior experience in a nutritional supplement industry or similar field.
  • 1-2 years working with dietary supplements, pharmaceutical development, or similar.
  • Ability to formulate nutraceutical and powdered functional food prototypes based on nutritional targets as well as consumer sensory acceptance.
  • Understanding of GMP manufacturing considerations and requirements.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills to share development work within the organization and with customers.

Additional Information

This is a full-time position with an estimated salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. The job requires the ability to work in a physically challenging environment, lifting up to 25 pounds and moving up to 50 pounds when working with bulk ingredients. Located in Torrance, CA, this role offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
