Position Overview

As a Senior Python Software Engineer at HIKINEX, you will be an integral part of our Application Consulting, Development, and Engineering team within the Information and Technology Solutions Directorate. Your role will focus on supporting a diverse range of sophisticated web and mobile applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in the development and enhancement of software solutions for various institutional tools and applications.
  • Contribute to the Laboratory's project formulation platform and collaborate on both internal and external applications, including cloud-based engineering sites.
  • Participate in a dynamic technical team utilizing agile methodologies to design, test, and deploy software applications while providing comprehensive documentation and operational procedures.
  • Leverage your expertise in scalable and modular systems to inform system architecture decisions and guide technical planning.
Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  1. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  2. A minimum of five years of experience in developing high-performance web applications within distributed environments.
  3. In-depth knowledge of architecting scalable enterprise applications and data aggregation systems.
  4. A proactive approach and ability to work independently.
  5. Extensive programming experience in Python, Go, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript.
  6. Proficiency in web application development frameworks such as Tornado and Django.
  7. Experience with NoSQL databases like ArangoDB, MongoDB, and Neo4j.
  8. Familiarity with relational database solutions including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  9. Expertise in utilizing RESTful web services frameworks.
  10. Experience with version control systems, particularly Git/GitHub.
  11. Strong technical writing and presentation skills, with a history of producing technical documentation for software development projects.
  12. A working knowledge of Software and Systems Engineering practices.
Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will also have:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. A solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals.
  3. Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  4. Familiarity with issue-tracking systems like JIRA or ZenHub.
  5. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments across multiple roles.
  6. Knowledge of front-end frameworks such as React, Polymer, or Angular.
  7. Experience with Amazon Web Services and its associated products.
