Join Floyd County Schools as an Academic Tutor, providing high-intensity academic tutoring to students in grades 3-8 in the areas of math and reading through the Virginia Department of Education's (VDOE) ALL-In program.
Job Summary:The ALL In program is a comprehensive plan to support Virginia's students in need of academic reinforcement. As an Academic Tutor, you will implement an instructional program that provides targeted reading/math interventions to both individual and small groups of students using provided resources.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach targeted reading/math interventions to both individual and small groups of students using provided resources.
- Analyze assessment results from online platforms to customize tutoring plans based on individual student needs.
- Utilize an adopted course of study, instructional program guidelines, and other materials in planning and developing lesson plans and teaching outlines.
- Promote and uphold acceptable levels of student conduct by implementing effective behavior management strategies and techniques, incorporating positive reinforcement and behavior-shaping methods.
- Collaborate with teachers individually to identify reading/math deficits of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem-solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in reading/math.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
- Maintain records of interventions, progress monitoring, and attendance.
- Participate in required training for ALL In Tutoring.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Superintendent and/or Principal.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency is required and must be at least 18 years of age.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to navigate online platforms and troubleshoot when necessary.
- Demonstrates an understanding of math and English concepts.
- Ability to explain concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
- Flexibility and adaptability to adjust tutoring sessions based on students' needs.
Salary Range: $25-$35 per hour, depending on qualifications.
