Lead Machinist Supervisor - Join Our Esteemed Organization

Overview

As a Lead Machinist Supervisor, you will oversee the operation of precision machinery to fabricate metal components while ensuring the maintenance of mechanical systems within our facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising a team of machinists and lead personnel, organizing and scheduling tasks, providing guidance and feedback, and reviewing work to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Collaborating with engineering and management teams to synchronize operations.
  • Ensuring the proper utilization and maintenance of tools, machinery, and materials.
  • Promoting safety by monitoring practices, preventing accidents, and providing first aid when necessary.
  • Analyzing blueprints, sketches, and work orders to develop strategies for specialized machining tasks.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Working with district staff to assess job needs and timelines.
  • Performing machinist tasks as required.
  • Executing other assigned responsibilities.

Working Environment

This position may involve exposure to mechanical machinery, elevated noise levels, and unpleasant odors, as well as working in varying weather conditions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of machining and welding characteristics of various metals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of machinist principles, practices, tools, and equipment.
  • Awareness of safety measures and workplace hazards.
  • Proficiency in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Capability to interpret sketches and perform welding tasks.
  • Competence in scheduling, coordinating, and supervising work effectively.
  • Ability to plan and manage for optimal performance.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of two years of experience as a journeyman machinist.

Promotional Criteria

  • At least one year of experience as a Machinist Leadman or two years as a Machinist within the district.
  • Civil service status in related classifications.
