Principal Nuclear Survivability Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Principal Nuclear Survivability Engineer- Ionizing Radiation to join our team at Northrop Grumman. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nuclear weapons effects and radiation hardening, with experience in developing and implementing design solutions to mitigate the effects of ionizing radiation on electronic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement design solutions to mitigate the effects of ionizing radiation on electronic systems
- Conduct analysis and testing to ensure compliance with nuclear hardness requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement system-level design solutions
- Lead and execute the analysis and/or evaluation/validation of components, equipment, subsystems, or weapon system analytical models and actual system implementation for weapons compliance to operationally relevant nuclear threat environments
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design analysis reports and test plans
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9 years of experience OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of experience OR a Doctorate in a STEM discipline and four years of experience
- DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain an interim Top Secret prior to starting, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
- Experience working in the specified NH&S domain
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nuclear Command, Control & Communication weapon system survivability design experience
- Analysis experience with radiation environments including man-made and natural space environment
- Analysis experience in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Testability (RAMT) including probabilistic risk assessment as applicable to semiconductor TREE susceptibilities
