Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at the County of Blair. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our employees and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain all areas of the facility, including offices, meeting rooms, public areas, and bathrooms
  • Remove recyclables and trash, and maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Dust, mop, sanitize, scrub, and sweep surfaces, and vacuum, shampoo, strip, wax, and buff floors
  • Wash ceilings, walls, and windows, and replace light bulbs and batteries
  • Maintain supplies in paper and soap dispensers, and set up and tear down meeting facilities
  • Load and unload deliveries, distribute deliveries, and run errands
  • Sort mail, perform general maintenance and repairs, and shovel snow and remove or treat ice
  • Respond to off-hours calls and maintain a high level of customer service
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Available to work extended shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • At least one year's experience in custodial/janitorial field preferred
  • Attention to detail, customer service, diligence, initiative, and pride in work done well
  • Ability to sustain physical demands of the active position, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, standing and walking most of the shift, and regularly using all parts of the body to accomplish varied responsibilities
  • Pass post-offer, pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check, and be able to be fingerprinted
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required
