Nurse Aide Trainee

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of experienced nursing personnel, the individual will provide essential daily care for assigned residents. This role includes contributing to the formulation of nursing care strategies by engaging in care discussions.

The trainee position is limited to a maximum duration of 120 days from the date of employment.

During the educational training phase, the trainee will receive direct oversight from the Program Coordinator, Primary Instructor, and potentially other trainers as needed.

In the clinical training environment on resident units, supervision will be provided by the Program Coordinator, Primary Instructor, and possibly additional Nurse Aide Trainee Clinical Supervisors when necessary.

Upon successful completion of the formal training, nurse aide trainees may work under the supervision of Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and Team Leaders across all shifts while awaiting the results of the competency examination.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Minimum:

Must possess the ability to read and write in English.

Preferred:

High school diploma, GED, or coursework in Human Services.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Preferred:

Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant, in Long Term Care, or as a PCA/HHA.

SKILLS:

Minimum:

Ability to read, write, and understand medical terminology.
Demonstrates capacity to perform under pressure.
Able to establish rapport with residents, staff, and visitors.
Must be actively enrolled in a State-approved Nurse Aide Training Program.
Familiarity with procedures and techniques for administering basic treatments and providing fundamental nursing care to residents.
Understanding of standard methods for delivering personal services to residents and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Good grasp of aseptic principles to prevent infection for residents and self, as well as to avoid contamination of equipment and supplies.

Salary Range: $17.00
