The Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Instructional Coach to join our community of educators. As a key member of our team, you will provide professional support and technical assistance to teachers, ensuring the full implementation of instructional focus and expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Support: Provide guidance on setting up effective classroom environments, assist in planning effective lessons, conduct and debrief demonstration classes, co-teach occasional classes, and offer in-class coaching, including videotaping and debriefing lessons.
- Assessment and Data Analysis: Assist in the proper implementation of BPS mid- and end-of-year assessments, analyze results, and develop strategies for improvement.
- Professional Development: Assist in planning school-based professional development activities, including workshops, study groups, and peer observations.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Maintain an up-to-date log of activities, monitor individual teacher progress, and track teacher participation in professional development activities.
- Collaboration and Communication: Participate in weekly meetings focused on implementation coordination, problem-solving, and coaches' professional development, and collaborate with principals and other school supervisors.
- Teaching License: Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in an appropriate content area.
- Teaching Experience: Possess experience and demonstrated expertise as a teacher of relevant content and/or subjects.
- Professional Development Experience: Demonstrated success working with teachers and administrators as a professional development provider, team leader, and/or facilitator.
- Organizational Skills: Possess strong organizational skills.
- Authorization to Work: Current authorization to work in the United States.
- SEI Endorsement: Hold an SEI endorsement or a dual certification in ESL.
- Urban Experience: Experience working in an urban setting.
- Special Education License: Special education license, experience, and/or expertise.
- Linguistic Diversity: BPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity.
- Core Content Certification: In order to best serve all students, BPS prefers all core content teachers to be certified in their subject area and one or both of the following: Moderate Disabilities, English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s)).
BTU, Group I, plus additional compensation equal to 5% of the individual's annual base salary.
