Inspector IV

We are seeking a highly skilled Inspector IV to join our team at Kaman Specialty Bearings & Engineered Products in Bloomfield, CT. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing advanced inspection activities of product, materials, first piece inspection, and in-process monitoring.

This is a part-time position that requires a strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities. You will work closely with our Value Stream Manager/Sr. Team Leader to meet production schedules and ensure high-quality products.

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance.
  
• Identify defects in surface, dimensional, visual, and non-conformities (material, documentation, and workmanship) to blueprints and Kamatics' quality standards.
  
• Use a variety of conventional and advanced inspection devices, CMM tools, and instruments to verify dimensions to drawing specifications.
  
• Maintain records, data, and logs as necessary, and create inspection forms such as IMS, first article, and other related forms.
  
• Prepare products and related paperwork for presentation to customers or source inspection.
  
• Provide leadership/training as needed and ensure that production schedules are met.
  
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations, and report safety incidents to the supervisor.
  
• Make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures and contribute to 5S programs in the work area.
  
• Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers and contribute to a positive teamwork environment.
  

Education: High school graduate or GED.

Experience: Min. of 2 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills/Abilities Essential to the Position:

Attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, reading and interpreting complex blueprints, completing Inspection Method Sheets/First Articles, customer focus, results-oriented, dependability, team-oriented, initiative, use of precision instruments, leadership, and writing/documentation.

Knowledge Essential to the Position:

Shop Math, Geometric Tolerances and Dimensions, and SPC.

Physical Demands: Frequent mental and visual attention, occasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
