Licensed Vocational Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at UTMB Health. As a Vocational Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients and perform nursing procedures within the scope of your education and demonstrated abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given.
- Participate in admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, and review and modify the plan of care as needed.
- Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients, consistent with the state medical plan of care.
- Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status, and recognize patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.
- Follow physician's orders in the delivery of nursing care, and maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and properly, and execute written physician's orders for assigned patients.
- Assemble equipment and supplies for various diagnostic or treatment procedures, and perform or assist others with procedures or treatments.
- Adhere to required infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care.
- Document nursing care in all assigned patient records, and adhere to internal controls and reporting structures.
- High school or equivalent.
- Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
- No experience required.
- Current BLS-HP required.
This position is located within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required, and pre-employment drug testing is also required.
