Job Summary

Certified Nursing Assistant performs basic nursing care work of more than average difficulty and responsibility in the treatment and care of the physically ill in county hospitals.

Responsibilities
  • Provides clinical duties as assigned by unit or hospital nursing leadership
  • Performs active therapeutic approaches to include but are not limited to range of motion, ambulation, other ADL activities to residents of the nursing facility with specific training to do so
  • Ensures residents have adequate supplies
  • Maintains residents' surroundings in a clean, orderly fashion
  • Observes and reports all unusual resident's conditions or reactions to Charge Nurse (to include residents incidents/accidents)
  • Answers call light promptly, attends to residents' needs, and reports to Charge Nurse when resident requires professional services
  • Participates actively in intershift rounds, and assists with caring for residents' needs when indicated
  • Transports resident to and from and assists with activities, therapies and appointments
  • Demonstrates ability to work with and be sensitive to the needs of the elderly
  • Specific accountability for protecting residents rights to dignity, freedom from abuse, neglect and exploitation as outlined in state and federal regulations governing long-term care
  • Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list
  • Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required
  • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise)
  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience
  • High school diploma is required
  • Completion of an approved nursing assistant training program. Valid Florida Nursing Assistance Certificate required. Certificate must be maintained as current in accordance with State requirements
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment
