Position Overview:
The Surgical Services Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring a sterile environment within the operating room. This position requires constant vigilance to uphold aseptic techniques, preventing contamination and infection. The technician assists the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and sponges during intricate vascular, cardiovascular, and cardiothoracic surgeries, including open-heart procedures. Responsibilities also include facilitating efficient turnover of surgical cases, preparing the surgical area, and ensuring proper maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment. Additionally, the technician performs delegated patient care tasks and receives guidance from the Operating Room RN, Providers, Anesthesia Providers, and Nursing Manager, while providing direction to the Instrument Processor.
Education Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician program.
Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience as a CVOR Certified Surgical Technician.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technician in various specialties (General, Orthopedic, Urology, ENT, GYN, etc.).
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certification from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Montana Nursing License (LPN only).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology and anatomy, asepsis, and sterile techniques.
- Proficient in basic computer and keyboarding skills.
