About the Role:
Hills & Dales Child Development Center is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional III to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with disabilities achieve their goals and maximize their independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching Daily Living Skills: Assist individuals in developing self-care and daily living skills, promoting independence and confidence.
- Behavior Management: Implement approved methods to reduce unwanted behaviors and encourage positive alternatives.
- Health Support: Maintain hygiene and grooming standards, provide first aid, and administer medications as certified.
- Documentation: Accurately record support provided and compliance with health standards.
- Engagement Activities: Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities and community outings to promote socialization and enjoyment.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and safe environment through laundry, cooking, and cleaning tasks.
- Financial Records: Manage accurate financial records for clients.
- Medication Assistance: Assist with medications as prescribed, following training and protocols.
- Meeting Participation: Attend and contribute to meetings, providing input and support.
- Professional Boundaries: Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff, ensuring a respectful and professional environment.
- Support Choice-Making: Encourage and assist clients in making choices and creating activity calendars.
- Confidentiality: Protect client data and adhere to HIPAA standards.
- Pet Support: Follow established goals related to pets or service animals.
- Follow Policies: Adhere to all organizational policies and values, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated Concern for Others: Show a genuine concern for the well-being and dignity of individuals with disabilities.
- Effective Communication: Assertively communicate and advocate for clients, ensuring their needs are met and respected.
- Reliable Attendance: Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, ensuring a stable and supportive environment.
- Physical Abilities: Possess the ability to lift 35 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
- Education and Certifications: Hold a High School diploma or equivalent, and possess a valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and valid insurance.
- Criminal Background Check: Successfully complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and driving record check.
