Job Summary

The Quality Control Mammography Technologist plays a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of quality control in mammography at Saint Luke's Hospital of Duluth. This position requires a skilled and detail-oriented individual to perform mammography exams and procedures, as well as provide support services within the department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: A graduate of a two-year accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Experience: Not applicable.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Radiologic Technologist (R) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Must obtain Mammography Registration (M) within one year of hire in this position. Within ninety days of hire, BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Not applicable.
  • Experience: Successfully accomplished accreditations with the American College of Radiology.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: ARRT (R) with Mammography Registration (M) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to function well in stressful situations, exercise good judgment, accept responsibility, and carry out assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety practices.
  • Reading: Intermediate level - ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Writing: Intermediate level - ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
  • Speaking: Intermediate level - ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations, or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic skills - ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Reasoning Ability: Intermediate skills - ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Age-Specific Competencies: Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
Physical Demands and Environment
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking; lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients; lifts supplies/equipment and to wear lead protection for varying lengths of time.
  • Lifting Requirements: Up to 10 pounds - continuously over 2/3 hours; up to 25 pounds - frequently 1/3 to 2/3 hours; up to 35 pounds - occasionally under 1/3 hours.
  • Work Environment: Typical noise level - moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
  • Working Conditions: Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards.
