Compensation: This role is offered on a contractual basis at an hourly rate of $70.00, with the possibility for negotiation regarding hours and schedule.
Position SummaryThe Climate Smart Commodity Market Development Specialist at Piikani Lodge Health Institute will play a crucial role in discovering and securing lucrative retail and food service opportunities for products developed within the Blackfeet Nation. These products will utilize commodities produced in alignment with the USDA Climate Smart Commodity Grant. The specialist will be tasked with identifying potential markets, establishing connections with buyers, and securing marketing agreements for these offerings.
Key Responsibilities:- Compile a catalog of climate-smart commodities and finished products in accordance with grant specifications.
- Analyze and track market trends that promote the use of these commodities and products.
- Create a comprehensive marketing strategy that encompasses core branding elements, product placement, pricing, and promotional activities.
- Oversee the design of graphics, packaging, and messaging.
- Identify target markets and initiate relationships with key buyers.
- Focus on expanding existing accounts while acquiring new clients.
- Conduct meetings and deliver sales presentations.
- Coordinate advertising and promotional efforts, including media outreach, social media, trade shows, and product showcases.
- Generate innovative, results-driven marketing concepts tailored to diverse clients.
- Assess clients' promotional needs and evaluate demographics, pricing, distribution channels, and marketing outlets.
- Formulate effective sales strategies.
- Engage with clients to understand their marketing objectives.
- Produce reports analyzing competition and customer insights.
- Provide insights regarding product potential.
- Develop and manage marketing and sales budgets.
- Regularly collaborate with personnel involved in the production and processing of climate-smart commodities to gain a comprehensive understanding of these products for effective client communication.
- Analyze production data of climate-smart commodities to inform marketing strategies and sales materials.
- Deliver regular updates to Piikani Lodge Health Institute regarding marketing and sales performance of commodities and finished products.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food and/or commodity marketing and managing marketing initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of the food industry.
- Understanding of climate change factors and the positive impact of commodity production.
- Ability to connect with consumer psychology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
