Job SummaryThe Veterinary Receptionist is a key member of our team, responsible for providing exceptional client service and support to our veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members. This role requires a friendly and professional demeanor, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities- Greets clients and pets by name, providing a positive and solution-oriented attitude.
- Answers phones promptly and professionally, using a multi-line phone system to route calls to appropriate staff.
- Schedules appointments and surgeries according to hospital guidelines, making confirmation calls as needed.
- Enters accurate charges, explains invoices to clients, and collects payment for services rendered.
- Verifies client eligibility for charge accounts and checks medical records for accuracy.
- Fills prescriptions refill forms and provides routine administration instructions to clients.
- Advises clients on flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items.
- Demonstrated commitment to our core values.
- Computer knowledge required, including keyboarding and use of communication tools (email/internet).
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology, including pronunciation, spelling, and meaning.
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills.
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions, including exposure to highly emotional situations.
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members, even in busy or hectic situations.
- Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner, even in stressful situations.
