Job Summary

The Veterinary Receptionist is a key member of our team, responsible for providing exceptional client service and support to our veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members. This role requires a friendly and professional demeanor, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities
  • Greets clients and pets by name, providing a positive and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Answers phones promptly and professionally, using a multi-line phone system to route calls to appropriate staff.
  • Schedules appointments and surgeries according to hospital guidelines, making confirmation calls as needed.
  • Enters accurate charges, explains invoices to clients, and collects payment for services rendered.
  • Verifies client eligibility for charge accounts and checks medical records for accuracy.
  • Fills prescriptions refill forms and provides routine administration instructions to clients.
  • Advises clients on flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values.
  • Computer knowledge required, including keyboarding and use of communication tools (email/internet).
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology, including pronunciation, spelling, and meaning.
  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills.
  • Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions, including exposure to highly emotional situations.
  • Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members, even in busy or hectic situations.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner, even in stressful situations.
