**Job Overview**

The City of New York is seeking a skilled Carpentry Supervisor to join its Facilities and Logistics Division. This role is responsible for supervising a team of carpenters and overseeing the installation, repair, and maintenance of building components within homeless shelters and other facilities.

About the Role

This position requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to make decisions relative to work procedures, prepare work schedules, and assign tasks to team members. The successful candidate will also conduct field inspections, prepare job orders, and maintain records of work performed and supplies used.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of carpenters and other assigned personnel in the installation and repair of building components
  • Making decisions relative to work procedures and preparing work schedules
  • Conducting field inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to specifications
  • Preparing job orders and tool and material requisitions
  • Maintaining inventory of carpentry tools and materials
  • Coordinating with other trades and departments to ensure project completion

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have seven (7) years of recent, satisfactory, full-time paid experience as a carpenter, with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience. A satisfactory equivalent may also be considered.
