Estimated salary range: $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and location.


Job Description:We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding Specialist to join our hospital pharmacy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for filling and delivering medication orders, performing non-sterile compounding and repackaging, and answering and screening telephone calls. Additionally, they will process cart fills, refills to automated dispensing machines, and replenishments to emergency kits and carts. Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software is also essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Filling and delivering medication orders for all age groups under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Performing non-sterile compounding and repackaging.
  • Answering and screening telephone calls and referring calls to a pharmacist when appropriate.
  • Processing cart fills, refills to automated dispensing machines and replenishments to emergency kits and carts.
  • Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software.

Requirements:
  • Educational background: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Acute: Minimum of two years of experience in any setting with one year of experience in sterile compounding (of IV and/or chemotherapy admixture), required.
    • Outpatient Oncology: Minimum of two years of experience in any setting required with one year of experience in sterile compounding (of IV and/or chemotherapy admixture) preferred.
    • Specialty Pharmacy: Minimum of two years in any setting required with one year in specialty setting preferred required.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of pharmacy, required.
    • PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire, or proof of enrollment in pharmacy school/FPEGG/FPGEC; required.
    • A minimum of one relevant specialized certificate/certification from approved vendor such as PTCB, BPTS or NPTA (examples include but are not limited to product verification, medication history, hazardous drug management, billing/reimbursement, controlled substances diversion prevention, medication therapy management, sterile compounding). This must be obtained within 12 months of hire and maintained as applicable required.
