At Michaels Arts and Crafts, we are seeking an Event Coordinator - Party Experience Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating events within our store, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.

This is a customer-facing position that requires excellent people skills and the ability to interact effectively with guests of all ages. You must have experience working with children and be able to create a fun and engaging environment for them.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills. Retail and/or customer service experience is required, as well as good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc., to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous retail and/or customer service experience required.
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time and move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
