Medical Coder

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a Medical Coder, you will be responsible for accurately coding professional services from medical record documentation in a hospital setting.

• Review medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures
• Assign codes and modifiers using ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes
• Verify and abstract medical data from records to assign appropriate codes
• Correct data as necessary
• Resolve coding-related edits by reviewing medical records and ensuring data and codes are consistent with ICD-CM Official Guidelines, CPT, CPT Assistant, CMS, OMFS, MediCal, USDOL, and KP Regional and Local policies

• Minimum two years of certified professional coding experience within the last three years
• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, current ICD-CM and CPT coding conventions, and disease process from an accredited program
• Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based, Certified Professional Coder, or Registered Health Information Technician
