Early Childhood Program Manager

Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director for Young Learners will be an integral part of the Early Childhood supervisory team, fostering a positive learning environment for children, families, and employees. This role ensures the school operates in accordance with organizational and state licensing standards, providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment.

This position requires a combination of classroom teaching and office administration, with a goal of transitioning to a fully administrative position in 1-2 years as the program continues to grow.

Essential Functions:

General Duties

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic plan for program growth and excellence
  • Assist with recruitment and enrollment processes, including marketing, new student outreach, and tours
  • Maintain strong relationships with parents through regular communication and proactive outreach
  • Develop community partnerships with schools and agencies

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise teachers in the Preschool and Pre-K classrooms (children ages 3-5), providing mentorship, support, real-time feedback, and evaluations
  • Review, create, implement, and evaluate classroom curriculum and lesson plans in collaboration with classroom teachers and supervisory staff
  • Address concerns and problem-solve situations independently, serving as the first point of contact for teachers and parents in Preschool and Pre-K classrooms
  • Maintain student and teacher files in accordance with state requirements
  • Provide classroom coverage when additional teachers are needed to fulfill required ratios

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with managing day-to-day operations of the Early Childhood program and the JCC
  • Ensure the health and safety of all children, providing nurturing, responsive, quality care addressing individual needs
  • Create a positive, warm, individualized, and nurturing environment for children, encouraging inquiry and open-ended thought
  • Maintain confidentiality

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in early childhood development, education, school administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with young children in an educational environment, with an understanding of child development best practices for early childhood
  • Director's credential from the Pennsylvania Key or ability to obtain it within the first six months of employment
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with technological proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or ability to obtain it within the first three months of employment
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to cultural differences within and outside the Jewish community
  • Ability to pass required state and federal background checks
