Challenge Unlimited is seeking a skilled Grounds Maintenance Laborer to join our team at the Naval Station of Great Lakes, IL. As a Grounds Maintenance Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain the grounds and facilities of the Naval Station.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the grounds and facilities of the Naval Station, including mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing/sweeping grass using mowers, trimmers, edgers, and blowers.
- Plant sod, shrubs, flowers, trees, and/or landscape materials like blocks, pavers, and rock.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as filling fluids, greasing, cleaning, replacing string, and sharpening blades.
- Contribute to teamwork by training and helping co-workers, communicating needs to the supervisor, and implementing feedback for improvement.
- Perform duties with a special focus on safety, quality, and customer service.
Requirements:
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Pass various State and Federal registry checks.
- Pass a DCFS Abuse and Neglect Tracking System check.
- Preferred: pass a driving history check and Company policy criteria.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and be 21 or older to drive.
Working Conditions:
- Frequently standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting while performing grounds maintenance duties.
- On call for snow removal.
