The Meharry Medical College is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor, General Pediatrics to join our team. As a board-certified physician, you will demonstrate excellence in clinical medicine and a commitment to teaching and scholarly activity.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform physical examinations and developmental assessments, manage pediatric illness, and help families meet their healthcare needs.
- Teach an interdisciplinary group of students, including residents, medical, dental, physician assistant, and nurse practitioner students.
- Assess the health status of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults and develop appropriate plans for health supervision and illness management.
- Provide care that reflects evidence-based practice, ethical considerations, cost, and clinical effectiveness.
- Prescribe medications according to state and federal laws and regulations to treat illness, improve health status, and provide preventive care.
- Participate in periodic chart reviews as part of ongoing quality assurance.
- Take call on weekdays, weekends, and holidays in rotation with other practice providers.
- Precept residents and students in the clinical setting.
- Doctorate in Medicine from an accredited doctoral level training program.
- Completion of an accredited post-doctoral residency program in pediatrics.
- Active MD license in Tennessee.
- Certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
- Federal DEA Registration.
