Job Summary

As a Parking Enforcement Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our city's parking facilities. You will be responsible for enforcing parking regulations, monitoring vehicular use, and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned parking enforcement areas on foot or in authorized vehicles, giving special attention to sidewalk, street, and traveled way conditions.
  • Monitor the use and misuse of parking by individual vehicles, using approved methods such as time metered spaces and non-destructive tire markings.
  • Issue and record tickets and summonses within the scope of authority conferred by the Chief of Police.
  • Observe areas patrolled for suspicious activity, conditions, or potential hazards and notify dispatch accordingly.
  • Explain parking regulatory requirements to customers.
  • Present and transfer electronic and/or written records of violations, tags, and summonses to the violations collections clerk.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent diploma (GED).
  • Ability to proficiently operate hand-held computer ticketing machines.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • No offenses that would prohibit or restrict bonding by any carrier or agent providing coverage to the City.
