About the Position:

The Virginia Department of State Police is seeking a highly skilled Intelligence Analyst Senior to join our team in the Virginia Fusion Center in Appomattox, Virginia.

The successful candidate will support law enforcement activity in Division III by conducting in-depth analysis of information and research in support of active criminal investigations; engage and facilitate in the exchange of criminal and terrorist related information and intelligence between the Virginia Fusion Center and all law enforcement or homeland security agencies in the VSP Division III region; analyze multi-faceted criminal data to show methods, trends, and patterns relating to the Division III region; compile reports and undertake projects relating to these topics as needed; conduct database checks and compile results to respond to requests for information in a timely, efficient manner; compile reports and projects relating to criminal activity and provide assistance for special projects in the Fusion Center as needed; and analyze cellular data related to criminal investigations as requested or required.

Overall analytic judgments made by this employee will have an impact in the implementation of accomplishing agency work and enhance the achievement of agency goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of research and analysis techniques.
  • Intermediate skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, summarize, interpret and communicate information and technical data orally and in writing; to apply critical thinking to diverse information sets and to produce logic-based analysis and recommendations on probable and potential trends and event outcomes; to maintain accurate and complete files, manage multiple priorities, and follow oral and written instructions in English; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of municipal, State, and federal personnel and representatives of other agencies and organizations; to work semi-independently, establish priorities, and achieve high level results with limited direct supervision; and to create and provide intelligence briefings for all levels of personnel.
  • Experience in government, business, or criminal justice to include analytical experience and criminal analytical training.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to obtain a federal security clearance.
  • Requires three-year commitment to the Virginia Fusion Center and ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
