Position Summary:

The Engineering Technician plays a vital role in supporting both new and existing product development or manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include creating prototypes, pre-production, or production components, and aiding in process development. This role may involve developing manufacturing techniques for new products, creating concept samples, and assisting production teams with process-related challenges. Additionally, the technician will manage the steel rule die database, oversee die layouts, and coordinate die orders and repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with technical teams on projects related to product and process development or manufacturing support.
  • Conduct laboratory tasks involving sample preparation and testing.
  • Perform precise measurements, document, and report data, including part inspections using various manual and automated inspection tools.
  • Utilize expertise to assist the estimating department in providing quotes for new projects/products.
  • Create proof of concept and pre-production samples as requested by clients.
  • Maintain the die database, manage layouts, and oversee die ordering and repair processes.
  • May develop machine programs using AutoCAD or Mastercam.
  • Research and innovate new fabrication methods, recommending improvements to operational processes, material handling, and equipment layout to enhance production efficiency.
  • Support production teams in resolving quality and throughput issues by analyzing process steps and suggesting modifications.
  • Interpret design drawings and translate them into parts, samples, or tooling as necessary.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and prepare necessary reports.
  • Operate various manufacturing, tooling, and testing equipment to produce parts and conduct tests as needed.
  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED, or Vocational School education with advanced coursework and 2-3 years of experience in production manufacturing, particularly with CNC and manual machines. Experience with rigid and plastic materials, as well as packaging and foam materials, is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Certification in Mastercam/programming, AutoCAD, or Solidworks drafting is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of trade mathematics, computer skills, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints in both 2D and 3D formats.
  • Proficiency in using inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Willingness to travel for work-related purposes may be required.
