Mechanic II Corner Welder 3rd Shift

A shop hourly position with the primary responsibilities of performing water-tight corner and connection welds on various types and gauges of sheet metal.
Key Responsibilities- Owns personal and team safety, observing all safety rules and using proper safety equipment at all times.
- Interprets BAC shop documents and performs cut-out operations using plasma cutting processes and equipment on galvanized and stainless steel panels.
- Welds water-tight corner welds and connection welds on galvanized and stainless steel using MIG welding procedures.
- Meets FPY requirements as stated in Class C Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ).
- Responsible for the accuracy of work, maintains a steady work pace, and avoids loss of production time by adhering to safety rules and scheduled break periods.
- Assists and trains junior mechanics.
- Continuously grows skills and expertise to flex to the maximum number of workstations.
- Meets or exceeds production goals for the shift.
- Knowledgeable of and meets quality standards on a consistent basis.
- Committed to achieving departmental safety goals.
- Maintains and sustains 5's in the department.
- Fulfills the role of MI senior mechanic in their absence.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, and assigned.
- Ensures individual activities embrace sustainability, reduce the impact on the environment, minimize waste, maximize recycling, minimize energy and water usage.

The working environment includes lifting up to 50lbs. Standing is to be expected up to 100% of the time.
Additional activities include walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting. Wearing of additional PPE including face shield and welding jacket. Fine hand manipulation of controls is needed as well as hand-eye coordination to perform changes.
Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas.
Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected. Working temperatures include both wide fluctuations within the plant as well as ambient outside temperatures.
