The role of the instructor is to facilitate the educational journey towards the accomplishment of curriculum objectives while aligning with the overarching goals of the institution. Exceptional Student Education Roles

Essential Qualifications
The fundamental qualifications for various ESE roles, including Autism, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD), Gifted, and others, are outlined as follows:
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
Experience: No prior experience is necessary. Compensation is determined based on verified teaching experience.
Certifications & Licenses: Candidates must be eligible for certification from the Florida Department of Education in the relevant subject area.
Specific ESE Positions
ESE Certified Behavior Analyst
Requires three years of successful teaching or relevant experience with students on the autism spectrum or those with complex behavioral needs. Experience in special education and related services is essential.
Must possess board certification as a Behavior Analyst and Florida Department of Education teaching certification in at least one area of Exceptional Student Education, Guidance and Counseling, or School Psychology. Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement is preferred.
ESE Intervention Representative
Requires five years of successful classroom teaching experience in exceptional student education or a combination of exceptional and regular education teaching experience. A background in behavior management techniques is highly recommended.
Must hold Florida Department of Education certification in at least one area of Exceptional Student Education, Administration/Supervision, or Educational Leadership.
ESE Lead
Requires three years of experience working with students with disabilities.
Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
ESE Site Coach
Requires three years of experience working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities or Autism.
Certification in at least one area of exceptional student education is required (for Autism positions, Autism certification or endorsement is mandatory) along with certification in a core content area or K-6 Certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of subject matter
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong time management capabilities
- Effective organizational skills
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
- Ability to design and implement a study program tailored to the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Willingness to invest additional hours beyond the standard workday for grading, lesson preparation, etc.
- Ability to manage student behavior effectively
- Capacity to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
