About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Sebastian County Jail in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed mental health professional to utilize their skills and experience to make a positive impact on the lives of incarcerated individuals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and evaluations to identify inmates' needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide counseling services to inmates with mental health issues, including crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
  • Collaborate with facility staff and medical professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and address inmate special needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of inmate interactions and treatment plans.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Master's degree in social work, clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing, or related field;
  • Licensed as a Social Worker, Marriage/Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Professional Counselor;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with inmates, staff, and community agencies;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with varying levels of stress;
  • Knowledge of mental health principles, theories, and practices, including evidence-based treatments.
