As a Checkout Specialist, you will be the face of our store, welcoming customers, processing their purchases, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience. We seek an enthusiastic and reliable individual who excels in a variety of tasks:
- Welcome customers and engage in friendly dialogue
- Efficiently scan items with accuracy
- Manage the cash register or oversee self-checkout stations, accepting multiple payment methods (e.g., gift cards, credit, debit, EBT cards, tax exemptions, store charge, and WIC vouchers)
- Utilize equipment such as computer terminals, scanners, keyboards, intercom systems, calculators, printers, telephones, and coupon machines effectively
- Verify customer identification for age-restricted purchases in compliance with state regulations and company policies
- Carefully bag items and assist customers in loading their purchases
- Maintain equipment in good working condition
- Ensure a clean work environment using approved cleaning supplies
- Adhere to safety protocols to prevent workplace injuries
- Monitor for and report any instances of theft
- Ability to read and comprehend basic information with detailed procedures
- Fundamental computer and mathematical skills, including basic arithmetic
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Consistent and punctual attendance
- Compliance with our dress code and personal grooming standards
- Potential for cross-training in other departments
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently
- Occasional pushing and pulling of up to 30 lbs. of force
- Occasional sitting, kneeling, stooping, squatting, and reaching overhead
- Frequent movements including head turns, trunk bends, side reaches, grasping, and fine motor skills
- Constant standing, handling, and forward reaching
