Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Trauma Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic team in the Emergency Department of The George Washington University Hospital. As a leader in our Level I Trauma Center, you will play a critical role in delivering advanced nursing care to trauma patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assess, triage, and provide expert care to trauma patients in the Emergency Department.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, surgeons, and respiratory therapists, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Leadership: Act as a leader during trauma activations, facilitating communication and coordinating interventions.
- Education and Quality: Develop and deliver trauma education programs for ED staff, participate in research initiatives, and contribute to quality improvement projects.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the needs of trauma patients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Certifications: TNCC or ATCN certification required; instructor status within 6 months.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center.
- Skills: Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to thrive in a high-stress environment.
