Position Summary:

The role of a metal fabrication press technician involves setting up and operating a punch press along with various other machinery. Responsibilities include configuring and running components to meet OnePointe Solutions' quality benchmarks, ensuring the press is maintained in optimal working condition, accurately completing all necessary documentation, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Technicians will oversee all tasks within this department, including scheduling, setup, inspection, cleaning, and transporting parts, all with minimal oversight.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain the necessary tooling for each job and prepare the machine accordingly. After operations, return tooling to its designated locations.
  • Conduct punch press operations.
  • Interpret and adhere to blueprints, routings, manufacturing instructions, inspection cards, and technical drawings.
  • Monitor for defects during press operations and accurately document findings using inspection cards.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify defective components, segregating them and communicating issues to the Supervisor or Quality Department.
  • Learn to utilize various measurement and testing instruments (CMM, height gauges, hardness testers, micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Become certified as a forklift operator.
  • Identify operational challenges and seek assistance when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Consistent use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Basic math and reading skills are essential.
  • Capability to read and comprehend blueprints.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or a successful three-year in-company training program is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to weld components in vertical, flat, or overhead positions.
  • Capability to visually inspect parts.
  • Must be able to lift 15-30 lbs. throughout the work shift.
  • Manual dexterity is required.
