Job Title: Head Lifeguard

Join the Highlands Recreation District team as a Head Lifeguard, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our year-round aquatic facility. As a key member of our lifeguard team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the pool area and all related facilities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our patrons.
  • Assist in conducting in-service training, including emergency drills, to ensure our lifeguards are equipped to handle any situation.
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations, communicating professionally and appropriately with patrons.
  • Assist in supervising the collection and banking of receipts taken in by the pool personnel.
  • Maintain a positive and safe environment for pool patrons and employees.
  • Assist in the supervision, evaluation, and scheduling of pool employees.
  • Prepare written reports and maintain daily records.
  • Make regular inspections of the pool apparatus and pool equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Maintain pool chemistry and cleanliness of pool bathrooms, office, and related areas.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years of experience performing duties in a lifeguard position and as a swim instructor.
  • Equivalent to the completion of the eleventh grade; additional schooling is desirable.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, PR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED certification.
  • Certified Swim Instructor.
Physical Demands:

This position performs most duties in an outdoor, aquatic environment, with exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, heat, cold, sun, and inclement weather conditions. Heavy manual lifting may be required to maintain pool equipment.
